Reading Specialist Endorsement – Alaska

Educational Requirements

According to the Alaska Department of Education:

The state of Alaska offers the following endorsements.

• Alaska offers Reading Specialist.

Additional Requirements (During Degree Program)

1. Students will be required to complete four Alaska mandatory trainings.
2. Students will be required to complete approved Alaska studies coursework and approved Alaska multicultural coursework.

Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)

1. Please submit all licensure documents (located on the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu. 
2. Gate 4 will complete a College Verification Form which will be used to to add on the Reading Specialist endorsement to the Virginia license.
3. Students will be required to pass approved exams.
4. After obtaining a Virginia license and completing additional training and coursework students can then apply for an Alaska license through reciprocity.

Reciprocity

For holders of a teaching, administrative, or special services certificate who wish to add or remove, one or more endorsements. (An individual who applies for an Initial teacher certificate with a valid out-of-state certificate must have an Institutional or State recommendation on file with the Teacher Certification Office to be eligible to add an endorsement.)
