  • This program will be closing effective July 1, 2024. We recommend the student enrolls in the new MAT: Secondary Education cognate specific program.

Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)

  1. Please submit all licensure documents (located on the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu.
  2. Students will need to obtain their Virginia license first to qualify for reciprocity. 
  3. Gate 4 will complete a College Verification Form which will be used to apply for Virginia licensure. 
  4. Students will need to pass additional content area exams (located on the Gate 3 Checklist). 
  5. After obtaining a Virginia license students can then apply for a Louisiana license through reciprocity.

Reciprocity

If you are certified to teach in another state or country you must follow the guidelines of the Out-of-State (OS) Application Packet for certification in Louisiana. The OS certificate is valid for three years; you will have that time to fulfill Praxis exam requirements in order to move to the renewable Level teaching certificate.
