Educational Requirements
According to the North Carolina Department of Education:

Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)
- Please submit all licensure documents (located on the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu.
- Students will need to obtain their Virginia license first to qualify for reciprocity.
- Gate 4 will complete a College Verification Form which will be used to apply for Virginia licensure.
- After obtaining a Virginia license students can then apply for a North Carolina license through reciprocity.
Reciprocity
North Carolina recognizes approved EPPs from all states.
Out-of-state educators who meet all of the following, have the option to either pass SBE required licensure testing (see file linked at bottom of page) or complete state-approved foundations courses in reading and math to convert the IPL to the CPL.
- Have 3 or more years of teaching experience
- Holds the IPL in Elementary Education (K-6) and/or Exceptional Children: General Curriculum (K-12)
- Are employed in NC public schools
