MAT- – Missouri

Educational Requirements

According to Missouri’s Department of Education:

  • This program will be closing effective July 1, 2024. We recommend the student enrolls in the new MAT: Secondary Education cognate specific program.

The state of Missouri does NOT offer the following endorsements

  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Physics Education: Earth Science
  • Theater Arts

The state of Missouri offers the following endorsements

  • Biology (9-12)
  • Business (9-12)
  • Chemistry (9-12)
  • English (9-12)
  • Family Consumer Science (7-12)
  • Health & P.E.: Health (K-12) and Physical Education (K-12)
  • Mathematics (9-12)
  • Music Choral: Music Instrumental and Vocal (K-12)
  • Music Instrumental: Music Instrumental and Vocal (K-12)
  • Physics Education (9-12)
  • Social Studies (9-12)
  • Spanish (K-12)
  • TESL: English Language Learners (K-12)
  • Visual Arts (K-12)

Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)

  1. Please submit all licensure documents (located on the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu.
  2. Students will need to obtain their Virginia license first to qualify for reciprocity.
  3. Gate 4 will complete a College Verification Form which will be used to apply for Virginia licensure. 
  4. After obtaining a Virginia license students can then apply for a Missouri license through reciprocity. 

Reciprocity

An individual with a valid certificate from another state can be granted a comparable certificate in Missouri. Verification of certification from the other state must be provided. Depending on the number of previous years of teaching experience, the individual may qualify for an initial or career certificate.
