Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling – Louisiana

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Louisiana requires that applicants for this licensure have a master’s in mental health counseling with 60 credit hours.

Required Coursework:

  • Counseling/psychotherapy theories of personality
  • Human growth and development
  • Abnormal behavior
  • Techniques of counseling/psychotherapy
  • Group dynamics, processes, and counseling/psychotherapy
  • Lifestyle and career development
  • Appraisal of individuals
  • Ethics and professional orientation
  • Practicum: 100 clock hours
  • Internship: 600 clock hours

Liberty University’s Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program is designed to prepare students for professional counseling licensure in certain states and may also support eligibility for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential. The CRC is a separate national certification administered by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) and is distinct from state professional counseling licensure. Eligibility requirements for CRC certification may differ from the educational and clinical requirements associated with professional counseling licensure.
