Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
West Virginia requires applicants for this licensure have a master’s with 60 credit hours. In addition, students must ensure they meet the elective requirement noted below.

- Counseling theories
- Counseling techniques
- Human growth and development
- Social and cultural foundations
- Individual appraisal
- Professional responsibilities
- Principles of etiology
- Addictions counseling
- Group dynamics
- Lifestyle and career development
- Marriage and family counseling
- Research and evaluation
- Supervised practicum and internship
- One elective in any of the following: Human Sexuality, Psychopharmacology, Crisis Intervention, Biological Basis of Behavior, Counseling Special Populations, Rehabilitation Counseling, or another advanced course outlined in WV code 6.1b.
