Montana requires that applicants for this licensure meet the education requirements in either Option One or Option Two.

Option One

A graduate degree with a minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college with a program of study that is primarily counseling in nature and includes 6 semester credits in an advanced counseling practicum. The program must include Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP) core courses.

Option Two

A graduate degree with a minimum of 45 semester hours from an accredited college with a program of study that is primarily counseling in nature and includes 6 semester credits in an advanced counseling practicum. The program must include Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP) core courses. Note that if your degree is at least 45 credits but less than 60 credits and meets these criteria you will still have to obtain the additional credits to equal 60 within five years of being granted your LCPC license.

Liberty meets education requirements through Option One.

Montana will accept Liberty’s 6 semester credits in internship to satisfy the 6 semester credits in an advanced counseling practicum requirement.
