Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CACREP) – Idaho

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Idaho requires that applicants for this licensure have a master’s that is primarily counseling in nature and is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) or substantially similar and approved by the Board, and pass the National Counselor Examination prepared by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).

Acceptable Supervised Experience: Four hundred (400) of the one thousand (1,000) hours must be direct client contact and the supervised experience must include a minimum of one (1) hour of individual supervision for every twenty (20) hours of direct client contact. A supervised graduate-level educational experience (i.e. practicum or internship) may be utilized to fulfill this requirement which can be provided by a counselor education faculty member or doctoral student at an accredited college or university, or a site supervisor approved by an accredited college or university
