Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CACREP) – Alaska

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Alaska requires applicants for this licensure have a master’s in counseling or related field, with 60 credit hours.

Required Coursework, at least 8 of the following subject areas:

Helping relationships, including counseling theory and practice
Human growth and development
Lifestyle and career development
Group dynamics, processes, counselling, and consulting
Assessment, appraisal, and testing of individuals
Social and cultural foundation, including multicultural issues
Principles of etiology, diagnosis, treatment planning and prevention of mental and emotional disorders and dysfunctional behavior
Marriage and family counseling and therapy
Research and evaluation
Professional counseling orientation and ethics
