Advanced Standing Master of Social Work: Individual & Family Clinical – New Mexico
LU’s MSW program offers all the courses and internships necessary to meet education requirements for licensure in New Mexico* for any of the following credentials. Students are encouraged to meet with their gate advisor by contacting msw@liberty.edu for course selection and sequencing information to ensure they will meet the requirements for their specific license of choice.

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
- Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
- Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: No postgraduate supervised experience required before licensure.
- Additional Requirements
- Completed a required course in New Mexico cultures.
- Passed the New Mexico Jurisprudence exam.
Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
- Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
- Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: In a period of no less than two (2) years but no more than five (5) years, the candidate must have completed at least 3,600 hours of postgraduate experience in social work under the supervision of a licensed independent social worker (LISW) or a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). This must be concurrent with a minimum of 90 hours of direct supervision at a rate of one (1) hour per 40 work hours, of which at least 70 hours must be individual.

- Passed the New Mexico Jurisprudence exam.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
- Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: In a period of no less than two (2) years but no more than five (5) years, the candidate must have completed at least 3,600 hours of postgraduate experience in clinical social work under the supervision of a licensed independent social worker (LISW) or a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW).
