Advanced Standing Master of Social Work: Individual & Family Clinical – Illinois

LU’s MSW program offers all the courses and internships necessary to meet education requirements for licensure in Illinois* for any of the following credentials. Students are encouraged to meet with their gate advisor by contacting msw@liberty.edu for course selection and sequencing information to ensure they will meet the requirements for their specific license of choice.

Licensed Social Worker (LSW)

  • Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
  • Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: No postgraduate supervised experience required before licensure.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

  • Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
  • Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: The candidate must have completed at least 3,000 hours of postgraduate supervised experience in clinical social work at a rate of either: 30-40 hours per week for full-time, OR 15-29 hours per week for part-time. This must be concurrent with at least four (4) hours per month of direct, face-to-face supervision.
