Advanced Standing Master of Social Work: General – Missouri

LU’s MSW program offers all the courses and internships necessary to meet education requirements for licensure in Missouri* for any of the following credentials. Students are encouraged to meet with their gate advisor by contacting msw@liberty.edu for course selection and sequencing information to ensure they will meet the requirements for their specific license of choice.

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

  • Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
  • Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: No postgraduate supervised experience required before licensure.
  • Additional requirements may apply.

Licensed Advanced Macro Social Worker (LAMSW)

  • Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
  • Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: In a period of no less than 24 months but no more than 48 consecutive calendar months, the candidate must have completed at least 3,000 hours of postgraduate supervised experience in advanced macro social work under the supervision of a licensed advanced macro social worker (LAMSW). This must be concurrent with a minimum of two (2) hours per every two (2) weeks of direct, individual supervision, of which 50% of supervision must be individual.
  • Additional Requirements
    • Must hold a current, active LMSW license.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

  • Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
  • Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: In a period of no less than 24 months but no more than 48 consecutive calendar months, the candidate must have completed at least 3,000 hours of postgraduate supervised experience in clinical social work under the supervision of a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). This must be concurrent with a minimum rate of two (2) hours per two (2) weeks of direct, individual supervision, of which 50% of supervision must be individual.

    • Must hold a current, active LMSW license.
