Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC)
Wisconsin requires that applicants for this licensure have 360 hours of substance use disorder specialized education through a postsecondary institution or a department-approved education program.
Course Requirements
The 360 hours shall be in all of the following
- Sixty hours in assessment training
- Sixty hours in counseling training
- Sixty hours in case management
- Sixty hours in patient education
- Sixty hours in professional responsibility
- Six hours in boundaries and ethics
- Fifty-four hours in electives in any of the subjects above
