Addiction Counseling – Indiana

Clinical Addiction Counselor Associate (LCACA) – Master Level

Indiana requires that applicants for this licensure have a graduate in addiction counseling, addiction therapy, or in a related area as determined by the board from an eligible postsecondary educational institution that meets the requirements of the board. All education criteria must be met by postsecondary educational courses. Certifications cannot be used to meet educational requirements.

Practicum Requirements

Applicants must complete not less than one (1) supervised practicum, internship, or field experience in a counseling setting, which must include a minimum of seven hundred (700) clock hours. The 700 hours must have a minimum of two hundred eighty (280) face-to-face client contact hours of addiction counseling service and a minimum of thirty-five (35) hours of supervision from a qualified supervisor who has at least five (5) years’ experience in addiction counseling.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must ensure they meet the specific practicum requirements (see above) and complete both ADCN 606 Pharmacology of Addiction and Recovery and CEFS 502 Human Growth & Development to fulfill course requirements.
