Addiction Counseling – Idaho
Advanced Alcohol/Drug Counselor (AADC)
Idaho requires that applicants for this licensure have a master’s degree in a behavioral health field with a clinical component, including the following education requirements.
Required Education/College Courses (1 credit = 15 hours)
- 30 hours of education in Screening, Assessment and Engagement
- 30 hours of education in Treatment Planning
- 30 hours of education in Collaboration and Referral
- 30 hours of education in Counseling and Education
- 30 hours of education in Professional and Ethical Responsibilities
- 6 hours of ethics education specific to substance abuse counselors. * Ethics education cannot be an in-house in-service training. Face-to-face education is defined as in-person with an instructor or through an electronic medium that allows for real-time interactivity with the instructor(s) as the educational content is presented.
