Addiction Counseling – Georgia
Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC)
Georgia requires that applicants for this licensure have a master’s or doctoral degree in a behavioral health field whose program includes a clinical component and application (psychopathology or equivalent coursework and a supervised internship/field placement and/or clinical practicum) from a regionally accredited college or university listed on the U.S. Department of Education’s DAPIP.
A&D Education/12 Core Functions: 180 Contact Hours
- 6 of 180 in Professional Ethics
- 6 of 180 in Trauma-Informed Care
- 6 of 180 in Telehealth/E-Counseling
- 6 of 180 in HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C
Clinical Supervision
200 Hours (25% must be one-on-one) with not less than 10 Hours in each of the 4 Domains of the A&D Counselor. The Domains of a CS are as follows:
- Screening, Assessment and Engagement
- Treatment Planning, Collaboration, and Referral
- Counseling an Education
- Ethical & Professional Responsibilities
Additional Requirements
Applicants must take both CRIS 606 Acute Stress, Grief and Trauma and CEFS 631 Telemental Health: Theory and Practice.
