My Semester: Recapped

Dec 12, 2018 • Ellie J.

Finals week is upon us and I can’t believe how fast this semester went by!  With only a few days left in the semester, I find myself reflecting on the past 4 months.  Although this has been my busiest and most challenging semester yet, I know that everything I have experienced will leave a lasting effect on me.

My professors challenged, taught, and grew me.  I absolutely loved my classes this year because I knew I was going to learn something new each day.  Most of my classes were conversation style, which allowed us to talk through the content and work through our questions with each other and the professor. I am going to miss my professors and classmates next semester, but I am eager to learn more next semester!

My job is the best job ever.  I love being able to write, film, be creative, and give viewers a little taste of Liberty through my eyes.  On top of that, the people I get to work with are pretty incredible.  Bailey and Abby, the other amazing student bloggers, both make the office so fun and enjoyable for me.  I am thankful for our friendships and the times we laugh until we cry!  My bosses are the best.  They are so kind, helpful, hilarious, and overall lovely individuals!  I’m thankful for the people that I work with, all they have taught me, and the care that they have shown every day.

Although I did spend a great deal of time in the office and studying, I did have some fun!  From tailgating and football games (my absolute favorite days) to movie nights with my girls, getting lost in a corn maze, to taking study breaks by walking around Target, to being the hall grandmas with my amazing roommate… I’ve made memories I will always cherish with my dear friends.

This semester hasn’t always been easy, but I learned a lot about compassion and love to give to others, but also to give to myself.  It is hard to pour out to others from an empty cup.  Through my wonderful church, my mentors, friends, and God’s sweet voice, I was reminded that rest is a good, necessary thing.  I want to be the kind of person that allows others to rest and be authentically themselves.

Christmas Break is right around the corner and the Spring semester will be here before I know it.  I’m excited to set some goals for next semester and see what the springtime brings.

See you next semester and Merry Christmas,

Ellie
