How to Prepare for Game Day!

Game days quickly became some of my favorite days here at Liberty. Getting ready with friends, tailgating with my hall, cheering on our team…there truly is nothing like it! Since I’m a junior I’ve been to many football games, but a freshman may not know what to expect.

So, here are a few tips on how to prepare for Game Day!

The first, and probably the most obvious, is to Wear Red! Liberty’s school colors are red, white, and blue!  So grab one of your red Liberty t-shirts (if you don’t have one, you can pick one up at the bookstore!) and represent our team!

Another great way to rock the Liberty colors is to find ways to accessorize! Wear a white or blue bandana, white sneakers, or your favorite pair of blue jeans. Using glitter or red lipstick is a game day necessity for the Liberty girls!

Make sure to check the weather before you head over to the stadium, if it’s going to be chilly or rainy, you’ll definitely want a jacket!

Tailgates with your hall are always super fun and memorable!  Most tailgates have food, soda, games, music, and fun photo-ops!  Tailgating is a great way to make friends and get ready for the game as a hall.  One of my personal favorite parts of tailgates is taking cute pictures with all my friends.  I love looking back at my game-day photos and seeing all the fun we had!

Don’t forget to bring your Flames Pass to the game!  Swiping your flames pass is your ticket into the stadium, so you’ll want to have it on you.  If you get hungry during the game, the concessions accept Dining Dollars or Flames Cash (money that is put on your Flames Pass), cash, or card.

There are tons of traditions the student love to practice during football games. One of them is that all students and halls sit together in the student section.  It’s super fun to cheer on the Flames with your brother and sister dorm! The students also have specific chants we yell during first downs or at kickoff.  Another tradition is 4QF, 4 Quarters of Fury, which means staying for all 4 quarters of the game!

Even if you aren’t the biggest football fan, I’m sure you’ll love game day! See you at the next game!
