    Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Degrees

    Every application is reviewed by the admission committee on a case-by-case basis, meaning there are no set minimums for acceptance. However, all applicants must submit the following documents* for admission:

    • Admission application
    • Official high school transcripts
    • Official college transcripts (if applicable)
    • Results from the CLT, SAT, or ACT are not required for admission, but may be used in consideration for merit-based aid.

    *Note that additional documentation may be requested by the admission committee after your application has been received.

    What Will You Learn in Our BS in Digital Media and Journalism Degree?

    The digital media and journalism major includes foundational courses that cover the specified fields of communication and general education subjects, all requiring professional levels of competency in communication, critical thinking, information literacy, and mathematics. Through coursework in broadcast, social media, and online and print writing, you can develop skills for gathering and communicating information effectively to audiences.

    In your core major courses, you can develop the skills needed to excel in media or journalism. Some of the topics you’ll study include:

    • Ethics within the media industry 
    • Graphic design principles 
    • How society and cultures affect digital communication and vice versa
    • How to write for various mediums, including the news, social media, and digital formats
    • Television studio production
    • The fundamentals of editing, audio and video production, and media writing
    • The role and responsibilities of the digital producer

    Our general BS in Digital Media and Journalism program offers you 25-31 credit hours of electives, making it ideal for you if you are unsure of the specific field you would like to enter or if you are transferring to Liberty and have already taken a variety of electives. If you already have a specialization in mind or have earned credits in a specific area of study, you can also select one of our specializations for a more tailored degree experience. 

    Additionally, you can participate in ongoing campus media products through field projects and practicums. Your time in the program will conclude with an internship and senior portfolio. Your internship can provide you with hands-on experience in a real-world work environment, and your senior portfolio course can help you develop a professional portfolio by finding ways to showcase your creative works.
