Summer Experiences: GVI – Wildlife Conservation or Teaching in Costa Rica

Wildlife Conservation or Teaching in Costa Rica

GVI

GVI Conservation Internships:

GVI’s research station can be found in the middle Kekoldi Indigenous Reserve (KIR), which stretches from rainforest covered mountains across sustainable farmland. The reserve is protected by indigenous tribes, and home to some of the richest jungle habitats in the world. You’ll spend your time on-project surrounded by this breathtaking scenery and some truly remarkable wildlife, including such species as jaguars, ocelots, howler monkeys, toucans, sloths and coati.

Working closely with KIR and members of the community, your hands-on research efforts will contribute to the long-term sustainable conservation of the essential biodiversity of this stunning habitat. This includes hiking the jungle trails, conducting biodiversity surveys, checking camera traps for footage of wild cats, helping monitor sea turtle nests, and exploring the rainforest-filled mountains noting important bird species.

GVI Community Development Internships:

Kickstart your international development career while contributing to a range of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, UN SDGs, in the Central Valley region of Costa Rica in the village of Cartago. GVI’s sustainable development projects here center around teaching English to children, teenagers, women, and other adults to assist with contributing to UN SDG, #4, Quality Education.
