Local communities will benefit from the area concerts that will be presented. The service learning portion of the course includes a preparatory portion in which the students will prepare for a series of 8 concerts, as well as read assignments assigned in the syllabus. The carrying out of the series of concerts is the focal point of the ministry and the service. the students will research the audiences that will attend, learning the impact of the performances. The final portion of the service learning will be a reflective essay that will summarize the semester of performances, how the group was effective in ministry as well as how they individually were impacted by the experiences they had as members of the team.
The students will draw from their academic knowledge and skills through the implementation of their study in music. Most of these students are Music Majors and the work that they will be doing is directly related to their discipline.
