Welcome to the CSER course path for the College of Arts & Sciences. Below you can find organizations recommended by CAS faculty uniquely suited for your major. For more information about these organizations or for help registering for CSER, please email cser@liberty.edu.
The Dean’s Spotlight
The Dean’s Spotlight are CSER opportunities that can promote solidarity among all departments and majors within the College of Arts & Sciences.. Through the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society, students have the opportunity to connect with fellow students and faculty. Students are also encouraged to serve with SGA clubs related to CAS majors such as Caribbean Student Association, Interior Design, ASAD, ASL, and many more. Students are encouraged to serve with local churches in ways that build the body of Christ. Through LU Send, students will have the opportunity to travel the world where they will build valuable relationships with their professors and peers, tour historic sites, and serve alongside international organizations.
Modern Languages
Modern Languages students are uniquely equipped to serve in ways that connect people through speech and communication. Students can serve directly with faculty and staff in Modern Languages on research projects and unique service opportunities. At CASAS, students can mentor, tutor, support, and educate other students from all over the world as they transition to life at Liberty. Students who are proficient in languages are also encouraged to contact local schools and churches to serve as language tutors (Spanish, TESL, etc.). Finally, ASL majors can make use of their unique talents and skills to serve deaf communities through the American Sign Language Club.

English
English students can serve directly with faculty and staff on research projects and unique service opportunities, or they can serve at several organizations where proficiency in English is essential. At the Liberty Champion, students will have the opportunity to write, edit, and publish articles; building their portfolios and serving the Liberty community. At the Academic Success Center, students have the opportunity to provide tutoring to other Liberty students on campus. Local city schools can also benefit from English majors who are interested in education as a career field or are passionate about mentoring young people.

Math
Math majors can serve through Math and Sciences by assisting professors in unique research-based service projects. At Team Genesis, qualified teaching assistants may provide specialized assistance in reading comprehension, math, and science labs. Math students can also serve on campus through the Math Club or at the Math Help Center by offering general tutoring for LU students.

History
History students can bring the past into the present like no other group of students. Under the supervision of LU faculty, History majors and qualified students can complete transcriptions for the Smithsonian Institute in a virtual environment. Students can also serve in one of several local historical sites in Central Virginia where they can gain experience working alongside museum curators, performing historical research, and assisting with general needs. Students are advised to work with faculty to find suitable opportunities or to contact these sites directly.
FACS
Students can serve directly with faculty and staff on research projects and unique service opportunities. These opportunities are updated on an annual basis and must be approved by LU Serve. LU students have the opportunity to serve at a group home by helping with homework and developing relationships with local students. Other opportunities may be available. There are opportunities for students to assist with after-school programs by tutoring and playing with students. Students have the opportunity to help museum visitors explore and understand interactive exhibits in an exciting and dynamic environment. There are opportunities for students to assist an organization that provides loving care to young children by offering age-appropriate, developmental activities to nurture and grow the child. Students have the opportunity to host events and sell jars on campus, spreading awareness, and working to end human trafficking. At American Heritage Girls, there is an opportunity to mentor girls and help at their meetings. Students will also be able to help them with their badge work in fashion design and sewing.

Interdisciplinary Studies
Interdisciplinary students can serve primarily through the three opportunities listed below.
* By registering through a Special Project (CSER 399-001), students may request CSER eligibility at non-profit organizations and ministries that are not listed on the Service Opportunities page. **Students can choose from churches listed on the Service Opportunities page or students may request CSER eligibility through a different church by registering a Church Extension (CSER 279-001). ***Service-Learning CSER opportunities allow you to receive CSER credit through completing coursework in your classes.
