Liberty Holds Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

November 15, 2011  |

Liberty University Online, in conjunction with 8th Street Baptist Church, recently held a Thanksgiving food drive for those in the Lynchburg community who are in need.

Director of Student Care at Liberty University and the pastor of 8th Street Baptist Church Keith Anderson, has partnered with Liberty Online since 2006 to host the food drive.

“It is my belief that the Lord has provisioned his people in order for us to demonstrate God's desire to meet the needs of his people,” Anderson said.

The food drive began on Oct. 21 and continued for six weeks through Nov. 18. During that time, employees of Liberty Online were encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items to contribute to the cause. The food drive has been a big success over the years. Since 2006, the number of food boxes collected has more than tripled. This year, Liberty Online set the goal of 200 food boxes to be collected, 50 more than was collected in 2010.
