The Chronicle of Higher Education recently featured Liberty University en Español, the nation’s first accredited Christian university offering complete online bilingual programs, in an article on Christian colleges reaching out to Hispanic students.
It also featured Liberty University Online Academy, for grades 3-12, in its outreach efforts to help reduce the Latino high school dropout rate.
"It's a fact that 3 percent of the Hispanic population in this country has achieved a higher education degree," said Orlando Lobaina, executive director of Liberty University en Español. "We want to make higher education more affordable, more convenient and more accessible to the Latino community, which for many years has been an underserved group."
Last month, Liberty University en Español began offering four college programs — a Certificate in Biblical Studies, an Associate of Arts in Religion, a Master of Arts with a concentration in Pastoral Counseling and a Master of Arts with Christian Leadership concentration.
“As a Christian university, all of our bilingual courses will provide the Christian foundation that families and adults expect from Liberty,” Lobaina said.
