Spring semester kicks off with pallets of prizes
January 15, 2010 | Paul McLinden
A surge in spring enrollment became more powerful as Liberty University Online awarded grand prizes — three Macbook Pro laptops — and hundreds of fleece vests and sport visors to new and returning students who took advantage of early registration.
New students Matthew Baston, Erika Jackson and Denise McMillon each were awarded 17” Macbook Pro laptops equipped with Wi-Fi capability and plenty of memory, allowing them to take their school, work and other media on the road.
“Prizes certainly help enrollment,” said John Donges, executive director for LU Online, “but well beyond that, students are increasingly turning to online learning. More and more of them are seeing Liberty as the smart choice in that arena. The promotion is also an opportunity to show our appreciation for our students.”
In addition to the laptops awarded to new students, 3,700 visors and 166 vests were awarded to returning students who registered early.
Spring A/B semester begins Jan. 18 with more than 44,000 students enrolled. Spring C enrollment is now open through Feb. 3.
