The internship gives the student the opportunity to gain a working knowledge of the TESL field, and it enables him/her to be competitive in the job market upon graduation.
Course Requirements Checklist
After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in Module/Week 1.
Signed Internship Contract
At the beginning of the internship, the student must read the New Internship Agreement Form in Blackboard (learn.liberty.edu). The student must abide by all rules and standards of conduct outlined in the contract throughout the duration of the internship. After reading through the form, the student must sign the document, along with his/her faculty advisor and internship supervisor, and submit it via Blackboard (learn.liberty.edu).
Internship Updates & Signed Logs (14)
Throughout the course, the student must submit 14 Internship Updates & Signed Logs. Each submission must contain a brief written overview of the work or research completed over the previous module/week of the internship. Each overview must be only 1 paragraph. In addition, the student must submit a work log of all the hours completed over the previous module/week. Each log must be signed by the student’s internship supervisor. A template for this assignment is available on Blackboard (learn.liberty.edu).
At the end of the internship, the student’s internship supervisor must complete the Supervisor Evaluation form. This form is available in the Assignment Instructions folder on Blackboard (learn.liberty.edu). The supervisor must completely fill out the form, sign it, and give it to the student, who will submit it on Blackboard (learn.liberty.edu) for the faculty advisor to review.
The Final Paper must be 8–10 pages and can be completed in one of two ways. The paper can be a research paper springing from the student’s internship work/research. Alternatively, it can be a detailed reflection on the student’s overall experience throughout the internship.
