Self-care is an important aspect in the field of social work since practicing in this field can be stressful.

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview. 

Discussion

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete one Discussion in this course. The student will post one thread of at least 350 words. Each thread must demonstrate course-related knowledge supported by at least one citation from the course materials and at least one biblical principle. The student must then post two replies of at least 150-250 words. Each reply must support his or her assertions with course-related knowledge or at least one biblical principle or at least one scholarly citation. All posts and citations must be in current APA format.

For this assignment, the student will complete the self-care assessment included in Module 1. The student will analyze their individual Self-care preferences and write a 1 page reflective paper based on their findings. 

For this assignment, the student will utilize the information obtained from the Self-Care assessment from Module 1. Students will develop Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timebound (SMART) goals for each area of Self-care (Physical, Psychological, Emotional, Spiritual, Relationship, and Workplace). A PowerPoint presentation will created to reflect each of these personal goals and how the student plans to implement each goal. The completed PowerPoint presentation will be 7-10 slides which includes a cover slide. 

Self-Care Eco Map and Reflective Paper Assignment

The student will develop a personal Self-Care Eco Map following the instructions in Activity 3 (located on page 35) in The A-to-Z Self-Care Handbook. Upon completing the Self-Care Eco Map, the student will use the prompts in Activity 4 as a framework to write a Reflective Paper.  

  • The Reflective Paper should be 2-3 pages in length. The student must include a title page in current APA format.
  • Both the Self-Care Eco Map and Reflective Paper are to be submitted for review and grading.

Spiritual Life Map Assignment

The student will complete a spiritual life map. This assignment will follow the example included in the Hodge article in Module 6.

The Spiritual Life Map Assignment paper must contain 2 pages of narrative content, 1 diagrams which is not included in the 2 pages of narrative, and title and reference pages. The student must include at least 1–2 sources, such as the course texts, the Bible, relevant journal articles and/or websites. The paper must be in current APA format.

Based on the Nedra Glover Tawwab article about the 6 types of boundaries in Module 7, the student will film a video of themselves where they identify three new boundaries they want to set in their life. Boundaries will be presented individually. The student must state the type of boundary they are setting and why the boundary is important and necessary in their life. Video length will be between 3-5 minutes. Scholarly sources need to be mentioned at least twice during the video.

Each quiz will cover the course material for the assigned module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 45-minute time limit.
