Rationale

Medical professionals are entrusted with responsibilities and obligations. Carelessness, inadequate skill, and breach of ethics cannot be tolerated; medical professionals must be ultimately accountable for the quality of the care they provide. EMS must have mechanisms in place to reinforce and ensure adherence to this principle in the system design, procedures, and actions of its members. Professionals render specialized services based on theory, knowledge, and skills that are often peculiar to their profession and generally beyond the understanding and/or capability of those outside of the profession. It is the professional's responsibility to ensure the public trust by creating a safe, quality, and efficient experience for patients.

Course Assignment

Textbook readings and lecture presentations

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete 8 Discussions in this course. The student will post one thread of at least 300 words. The student must then post 2 replies to his/her peers’ posts of at least 200 words.

For each thread, the student must support his/her assertions with at least 2 scholarly citations in the current APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least 1 scholarly citation in the current APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last five years. Acceptable sources include professional journals, scholarly works, and the textbook, in addition to the Bible. For peer posts, each reply must be positive and substantial in nature and not just repeat what the peer has submitted in his/her post.

The student will write a persuasive essay by investigating, collecting, and evaluating evidence, and establishing his/her position as the topic presents in his/her textbook. The assignment should be in APA format with a word length of 600 words double-spaced and cite and reference concepts from the assigned Module: Week required reading, presentations, and additional research, as well as at least two (2) additional articles.
