Course Description

The dynamics of building a highly functioning team in order to accomplish a goal. Examination of how to choose team members and how to manage the team to deliver successful results.

Rationale

Teams fail for many reasons, but when one filters all of those reasons down to their essence, it is because of team dynamics. Understanding how to build effective teams and communicating within those teams is essential to team performance. This course will give students this understanding as well as tools to overcome typical team dysfunctions.

Discussion Threads are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided topic. The threads and replies will be broken up over two Modules: Weeks, with the thread in the first Module: Week and the reply in the following.

4-MAT Paper Assignment

The student will write a 2,500-word research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on his/her reaction to The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable by Patrick Lencioni. The paper will follow the 4-MAT method for analyzing a book. The course textbooks and the Bible may be used as references. Any references used must be in current APA format.

Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Modules: Weeks. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 30 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 50-minute time limit.
