Course Description
This course is a culmination of the research and writing process for the graduate thesis. In this course, the student will defend the thesis.

Rationale
The thesis defense is the culmination of Master's activities; it provides the opportunity for the candidate to successfully defend their thesis and provide oral explanation regarding supporting content within their written product.

Thesis: Working Revised Draft Assignment
The student will submit the working revised draft of his/her thesis including all chapters (introduction through conclusion). This draft should reflect revisions based on mentor feedback from the completed revised draft submitted in THES 689 and any further research/findings. (CLO: C, D)
Thesis: Defense Ready Revised Draft Assignment
The student will submit the defense ready revised draft of his/her thesis including all chapters (introduction through conclusion). This draft should reflect revisions based on mentor feedback from the working revised draft. (CLO: C, D)
Report: Date/Time for Oral Defense Assignment
The student will schedule a date and time for the thesis defense with his/her mentor and reader. The student will also get clarification from the thesis mentor regarding expectations for the oral defense and submit a report with this information. (CLO: A, B)
Oral Defense Assignment
The student will defend his/her thesis in an oral defense format (video conference, using PowerPoint presentation, and with ensuing dialogue with mentor and reader). (CLO: A, B, C, D)
Thesis: Final Draft Assignment
The student will submit the final draft of his/her thesis including all chapters (introduction through conclusion). This draft should reflect revisions based on mentor and reader feedback following the oral defense presentation. (CLO: C, D)
Quiz: Student/Mentor Progress Meeting (2)
The student will meet virtually with his/her mentor to establish expectations for the completion and defense of the Master's thesis. These meetings will be verified through quizzes. (CLO: A, C, D)
Quiz: Signed Thesis Submission
The student will obtain signatures of the thesis committee (mentor and reader) after the final draft of his/her thesis is approved and submit the final draft with signatures to the program director. (CLO: C, D)
Quiz: Publication-Ready Submission
The student will submit his/her finalized thesis to the Jerry Falwell Library for publication as the final step in his/her thesis process. (CLO: C, D)
