Course Description

Project may be designed to answer practical research questions, theoretical, or ethical issues of interest to scholars and professionals in the communication field. Demonstrates the ability of a student to conduct research and exhibit expertise in communication.

Rationale

Under the direction of a faculty mentor, the student writes a research project proposal. The development of the proposal is in preparation for final manuscript must be approved before data collection.

Final Project Assignments (3)

The Final Project Assignment is designed to answer practical research questions, theoretical, or ethical issues of interest to scholars and professionals in the communication field. The Final Project Assignment should demonstrate the student's ability to conduct research and exhibit expertise in communication. This Final Project Assignment should be a culmination of all the student has learned in the program and should display the academic rigor of a final project.

This Research Project has three components:

Quiz: Final Project Selection

Students will select one of three options for the Final Project on the first quiz to indicate the student's focus for the course:

  1. Final Project: Option 1 – Thesis Assignment
  2. Final Project: Option 2 – Integrated Marketing Communication Challenge Paper Assignment
  3. Final Project: Option 3 – Comprehensive Communication Research Paper Assignment

Final Project Assignment

Using the option selected on the Quiz: Final Project Selection, the student will write a paper in response to the selected option. Each option has specific requirements; however, minimally all options must adhere to APA standards and range from 18 - 34 pages excluding the title page, abstract, and reference pages.

Final Project: Revision Assignment

Utilizing all faculty feedback, the student will revise the Final Project Assignment and submit the final draft. 

Quiz: Self-Monitoring (7)

Throughout the course, the student will complete seven self-monitoring quizzes to ensure the student is on track with the Final Project Assignment. The purpose of this self-monitoring quiz is to acknowledge weekly progress on the Final Project Assignment and to show course activity and attendance. The quiz will require the student to acknowledge that the student is making progress on the Final Project Assignment.
