Course Description

This course is part two in a course sequence initiated to study servant leadership. The course focuses on introduction to leadership skills, attitudes, and practices, particularly leading others and culture change within one's sphere of influence. Special emphasis is placed on biblical perspectives and practices in leadership.

Rationale

There are various leadership principles, skills, and values necessary in order to develop effectively in one’s growth as an influential leader. This course delivers instruction in those areas, as well as accountability in developing self-reflection and application of leadership knowledge. A major focus of this course is assisting in the building of helpful relationships with others and the development of self-leadership in one’s practice and growth as a person of positive influence.

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 2 classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 100 words.

The student will write thorough and thoughtful short-answer responses to questions upon completing the assigned reading in the respective textbook.  The Structured Reading Guide Assignment will contain 10-12 questions and allows open-notes and open book format.  

The student will read Christian Reflections on the Leadership Challenge and then write thorough and thoughtful responses to application questions. The student will also create a PowerPoint guided by categories as well.

The student will read A Tale of Three Kings and then write thorough and thoughtful responses to application questions. The student will also create a PowerPoint guided by categories as well.

The student will take 2 Habitudes quizzes in this course upon completion of reading the assigned course textbooks and the course presentations. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 30 multiple-choice and true/false questions, short-answer questions and have a 2-hour time limit.
