Course Description

This course is designed to teach the student the essential competencies required for leading in NextGen ministry. Emphasis will be placed on leading and effective strategy of spiritual formation that engages the entire family from birth to college in the local church.

Prerequisites

YOUT 201 and CHMN 301 and THEO 330

Rationale

The Next Gen leader is confronted with unique leadership challenges that comes with ministering to minors. The Next Gen leader should know how to create safe environments across ministry programs, design a spiritual formation strategy for the family, and to develop the leadership skills necessary to lead in the local church.

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Evaluate and design a holistic approach for spiritual formation in Next Gen (Kids/Adolescence) ministry.
  2. Create the adequate safety and security processes and procedures necessary for Next Gen ministry.
  3. Demonstrate the essential skills that are required to build and lead teams (staff and volunteer) in Next Gen ministry.
  4. Understand and develop the leadership competency for leading in Next Gen ministry.

Discussion Board Forums (3)

Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the course will start with an Intro Discussion Board. This Discussion Board should give some details about yourself so those in the course can get to know you. Discussion Boards two and three will require an initial post with two response interactions with others in the course.

Next Gen Paper Proposal and Final Paper

Write a paper on a Holistic Spiritual Formations Strategy for Next Gen Ministry. This paper will include a proposal in Module 4 that will be 50 pts of the total grade.

Final Exam

The Final Exam will cover the Reading & Study material from all throughout the course.
