Course Description

Introduction to the tools used to create mobile and desktop web messages/content in the industry. Students will learn app and web development and create professional-level projects.

Prerequisites

ARTS 222

Rationale

Understanding the proper Content Management Systems tools and web application builders for mobile and desktop are essential when designing and developing an app/website. Students will explore the many benefits of using WordPress to build complex solutions.

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Possess a practical working knowledge of the theory, practice and application of mobile and desktop web messaging content and technologies.
  2. Demonstrate the application and processes of mobile and desktop web messaging technologies in pursuit of growth and development using a market-oriented working style.
  3. Apply the advantages of a Christian worldview in the transactional marketplace.

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in Module/Week 1.

Discussion Board Forums (8)

Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be at least 150 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. At least one biblical reference must be included in each thread. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 75 words.

WordPress Milestones (6)

The student will set up a website using WordPress.com, and will submit progress and proof of concepts/prototypes with specific guidelines related towards completing the project.

WordPress Project Final

The student will create a working website using WordPress.com and a selected theme on a hosted/live platform with a domain name extension to develop a multipage responsive layout website communicating a certain message utilizing a variety of plugins.
