The first day of spring was this past Sunday, and let me just say, I am SO excited. The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer (for the most part), and all the plants are starting to bloom. Below is a list of fun activities to help you and your family spring into springtime!

Plant something!

With both Arbor Day and Earth Day right around the corner, you have an excellent excuse to plant and garden! Plus, getting outside and in the dirt after the long winter is well deserved and so much fun! This is also a great way to do science rather than just learn about it. Check out our Gardening Pinterest board for some great ideas!

Host a Picnic!
Have everyone bring their favorite snack, pack a blanket, and enjoy the sunshine. Personally, I think food always tastes better when it is eaten outdoors! Check out a bunch of different recipes on our Picnic Pinterest board!

Explore the outdoors!

Go explore and find the best hiking spots in your area. I LOVE being in nature, it makes me so happy! This hiking website asks you to create a free account and then allows you to find trails at all different levels near you.

Jump in puddles!

It doesn’t matter what age you are, jumping in puddles is always fun (just make sure you wear the correct shoes)! Spring can sometimes bring lots of rain, so embrace it!

Go on a bike ride!

This is a great way to get outside and get moving. Plus, it can be a fun family activity!

Head to the local farmers’ market!

Learn which vegetables and fruits are in season in your area and visit a farmers’ market.

Do it yourself activities!

Creating can be so fun, especially as a family. For some ideas, head to our Spring Activities Pinterest board!

Fly a kite!

This is so simple, but so fun! If the weather is right, bring your family outside to enjoy kite flying together!

Experience nature (and learn more about it!)

Do this as a family! It can be birdwatching, butterfly watching, bee watching, or any type of nature watching, really! Have your kids draw the animals and plants they see and research it! Investigate the type, where they live/grow, where they travel, what they eat, etc.!

Find historical sites in your town.

This can happen in any season, but it’s so special to visit historical places around you during the beautiful spring weather, with all the plants blooming! Do some research on nearby spots you should see (and they might have spring events, too)!

Find some rainbows!

If the weather permits, this is so simple, but so fun to do, especially with young students that are learning colors!

Chase the sunset!

Watching the sunset is one of my favorite things to do anytime of the year. It is such a reminder of God’s faithfulness!

Spring cleaning.

As a family, create a list of things you want to clean, sort through, and donate to be better organized! Make it fun and your kids will jump on board.
