Biography

Dr. Harris is a Liberty University Alumni who started her nursing career on the Progressive Cardiac Unit at the local hospital in Lynchburg. There she was a bedside nurse and preceptor and was actively involved within her department on several committees to better serve her patients and coworkers. She then went to work as a missionary in West Africa for two years. There she worked alongside other missionaries to develop a hospital ministry in her city. She also participated in a prison ministry, food fortification clinics, storying clinics, and medical clinics. After her two year contract ended she became a resource RN and would float to whatever unit had the greatest need on the nights she was assigned to work. During this time she became a jack of all trades, having to learn each unit.

In 2019, she began her journey to become a DNP with a focus in family. She worked as a TA from 2019-2021 and then became the Undergraduate Simulation Coordinator for the Simulation Team from 2021-2022. Dr. Harris has been a clinical adjunct, simulation coordinator, and has now transitioned into an Associate Professor position. She has a love and passion for working with students while also caring for patients.
