Biography
Professor Duncan graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with her BSN in 2004 and from the University of Central Florida with her MSN- Family Nurse Practitioner in 2009. She has worked at the bedside as a medical-surgical and a neonatal ICU nurse and has been a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 2009. As an FNP, she has practiced in primary care, walk-in clinics, and telehealth settings. She has also volunteered in free and low-cost clinics for under-served and vulnerable populations. As a nurse educator, she has taught in both MSN and DNP programs preparing NP students for practice and enjoys teaching BSN students to care for patients at the bedside. In addition, she has managed a large HRSA ANEW grant that focused on preparing NP students to practice with under-served populations. Professor Duncan is passionate about active, hands-on learning and simulation education in nursing programs. She earned her Certified Nurse Educator credential from the National League for Nursing in 2022. Professor Duncan’s research focuses on simulation and telehealth competencies in nursing education.
