Biography

Dr. Duncan graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004 and from the University of Central Florida with her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner in 2009. She has worked at the bedside as a medical-surgical and neonatal ICU nurse and has been a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 2009. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she has practiced in primary care, walk-in clinics, free clinics, and telehealth settings. As a nurse educator, she has taught in both MSN and DNP programs preparing NP students for practice, and enjoys teaching BSN students to care for patients at the bedside. In addition, she has managed a large grant that focused on preparing NP students to practice with under-served populations. Dr. Duncan is passionate about active, hands-on learning and simulation education in nursing programs. She earned her Certified Nurse Educator credential from the National League for Nursing in 2022. Dr. Duncan’s research focuses on simulation in nursing education.
