Spring 2013 Convocation schedule announced

Every semester Liberty University welcomes prominent speakers from across the professional, political, and spiritual spectrum, making its thrice-weekly Convocation a unique, rewarding experience for students.

Recently, Liberty announced the next lineup of “Convo” headliners who will step onstage in the Spring 2013 semester. They include former governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, popular CBS Sports anchor James Brown, Christian hip-hop sensation LeCrae, and NFL player/Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

Liberty also hosts some of the most influential Christian speakers in the world, including pastors of some of the largest churches in the nation, authors, scholars, and leaders of charitable organizations. The Spring 2013 slate will include Franklin Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association; Tony Nolan, an influential Christian communicator; Lysa TerKeurst, president of Proverbs 31 Ministries; Jack Graham, pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas; and Emerson Eggerichs, founder and president of Love & Respect Ministries.

In addition, many of today’s great spiritual influencers are alumni and/or on staff at Liberty. This semester students and staff will hear from co-founder Elmer Towns, dean of the School of Religion and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary; Ben Gutierrez, administrative dean for undergraduate programs; Ed Hindson, dean of the Institute of Biblical Studies; and Tim Lee, evangelist and Board of Trustees member. Also scheduled to speak this spring are Jonathan Falwell, son of Liberty founder Dr. Jerry Falwell, Sr. and executive pastor of nearby Thomas Road Baptist Church and Liberty’s first graduate, Vernon Brewer, president of World Help.

After an exciting Convocation lineup last fall — in which the university had its largest Convocation audience to date for television personality and real estate mogul Donald Trump — members of the Liberty family are anticipating the next chapter of Liberty history.
