Daniel Henderson leads training session in Brooklyn

Daniel Henderson, Assistant Professor of Renewal and Church Leadership at Liberty University, led 60 Liberty students on a day of training and prayer in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Tuesday. Students met with Pastor and well-known author Jim Cymbala at his Brooklyn Tabernacle church.

Cymbala spoke to the group throughout the day and called students to the platform during the evening prayer service, asking Brooklyn Tabernacle leaders to come and personally pray for each one of them. The Brooklyn Tabernacle attracts 4,000 people a week and is known for its passionate prayer ministry.

The training seminars were sponsored by Henderson’s national ministry, Strategic Renewal, and included pastors and leaders from 19 states and Canada.

Henderson, also pastor of prayer and renewal at Thomas Road Baptist Church, said he wanted to use this trip as practical exposure and experience for his new class on prayer (PLED 497).

“The students were so encouraged by the love of the people of Brooklyn Tabernacle and by the great interest Pastor Cymbala demonstrated in wanting to equip them for a life of prayerful impact,” Henderson said.

Henderson said plans are already in place for a similar trip next semester.

“I am so encouraged to see a new generation of leaders who are hungry for intimacy with God and ready to lead the church to a new day of becoming a house of prayer.”
