Liberty swimmers set to compete in Olympic Trials

Brye Ravettine, along with incoming Liberty freshman Laura Day, will compete in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials starting June 25.

Liberty University redshirt sophomore Brye Ravettine has qualified to compete in the 50-meter freestyle at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, to be held June 25 through July 2 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

This marks the first time that a Liberty swimming student-athlete will compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

In addition to Ravettine in the 50 free, incoming freshman Laura Day will swim the 100-meter breaststroke at the trials.

Ravettine and Day will be among those vying for one of 26 spots on the U.S. women’s swimming team for the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

Jess Reinhardt, who joins Liberty’s team this fall, competed in the Australian Olympic Trials in 2008 and again this year.
