The ranking factored in the academic quality, affordability, and online programming of each school, using data from the National Center for Education Statistics.
Liberty offers more than 250 online programs of study from the certificate to the doctoral level. The ranking site specifically recognized the flexibility and extensive range of degrees that Liberty offers, including the fields of business administration, religion, and criminal justice. Liberty was also commended for offering nearly every program completely online (a few require one-week, on-campus “intensive” courses) and for touting a lower tuition rate for enrollment when compared with other online education programs.
Classes taught online are presented in an unconventional style compared with most online schools — each class is only eight weeks long, allowing students to space out their classes more while still graduating in four years or less with a competitive degree.
Liberty’s online students are also able to receive a variety of scholarships depending on their past work experience. Students who have served in the U.S. military, worked as a missionary for the International Mission Board, or have a ministry-based vocation, for example, have generous scholarship opportunities available to them.
