Bidding continues for Liberty scholarship

event posterAn online charity auction for a four-year scholarship to Liberty University is going on now and will end at 3 p.m. July 6. The bidding, which began at $5,000 for a four-year resident scholarship to Liberty University, is the first of two auctions for scholarships. A second auction for a Liberty University Online scholarship will begin after the close of the resident scholarship auction.

Proceeds from the auction benefit Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor Rally to be held in Washington, D.C., in August, and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities to surviving children of special operations personnel who died in missions.

Liberty Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. appeared on Glenn Beck’s radio program on June 25, to discuss the auctions for the scholarships.

“We are doing this because … the Restoring Honor Rally is to recognize our Second Amendment rights [and] honor the service members who fight to protect our freedoms,” Falwell told Beck. “That’s just something that is dear to what we believe.”

Beck said the rally “is about restoring honor. It is really an amazing event trying to bring people together and making commitments to be the best people we can be.”

During the segment, Beck reflected on his visit to Liberty last month for Commencement.

“Not only was I impressed with the campus and with what you guys are doing, but also I met many of the professors and many of the people that are putting your whole curriculum, your whole philosophy, together every year, and it is really impressive,” Beck said.
