In its new location in Green Hall, the Liberty University Art Gallery will debut the Fall 2015 exhibition season on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 6-8:30 p.m., with the works of cartoon creator Butch Hartman, best known for spawning Nickelodeon’s “The Fairly OddParents,” “Danny Phantom,” and “T.U.F.F. Puppy.” Hartman will greet guests at the exhibit opening and sign copies of his works, which will be on sale.

Hartman will also speak about his life, career, and spiritual experiences during a forum on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 5-6:30 p.m. in DeMoss Hall, Room 1113. The event and the exhibit opening are free and open to the public.

Prior to Hartman’s time with Nickelodeon, he had stints with Marvel Productions, Ruby Spears Productions, and Hanna-Barbera, where he wrote and directed episodes of “Dexter’s Laboratory,” “Cow and Chicken,” and “Johnny Bravo.”

“To have a creative of Butch Hartman’s stature exhibit his work in the Liberty University Art Gallery is a real honor,” said Todd Smith, chair of the Department of Studio & Digital Art (SADA). “Hartman has helped shape culture for many years through innovative approaches to his craft. Many students who will visit the exhibit will have grown up watching his shows and will enjoy meeting him in person. We are excited that students will hear his firsthand account of what is involved in the field of animation.”

Hartman will spend time sharing his expertise with SADA students earlier in the week.

The exhibit will be on display through Oct. 17.

The art gallery was moved from the fourth floor of DeMoss Hall to its new location near the Tower Theater in Green Hall, Room 1955, this summer. This semester, it will also showcase student work before selections from the university’s permanent collection are put on display (see the dates below).

Hours are typically 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday.

Private tours are available. For more information, visit www.Liberty.edu/ArtGallery or call (434) 592-7629.
