Welcome back, students: Fall 2009 semester begins

Besides the full parking lots and crowds of students on the sidewalks, other activities around Liberty University’s campus were clear signs that the semester had officially started today.

At the Tolsma Indoor Track Center at Campus North, students dropped off their laptops for HelpDesk Blitz, where Liberty’s computer technicians install upgrades and antivirus software.

The Commuter Affairs Office handed out free doughnuts and coffee to commuter students arriving on campus for the first day of classes. Students could also pick up a free flashlight and commuter mug at the event.

Residential classes began one week later this year, in an effort to better accommodate students who work during breaks. The semester ends Dec. 18, with a four-week break for Christmas vacation. Spring semester begins Jan. 18, 2010, and spring break is planned for March 15-19.
