More alumni chapters sprout up; Dallas chapter launches at Prestonwood

Liberty University’s Alumni Relations Office continues to create a vibrant alumni program by launching alumni chapters across the nation. With chapters in Washington, D.C., Burlington, N.C., San Diego, Calif., Hampton Roads, Va., and many more, the Alumni Relations Office is poised to achieve its goal of launching 15 active chapters by the end of 2009.

The latest chapter launch took place June 19 at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. The launch was a success and the Dallas chapter received permission to run a Liberty booth in the main lobby of Prestonwood each week.

Jack Graham, pastor of the 25,000-member church, has served as a member of Liberty University’s Board of Trustees and is a frequent guest speaker at Liberty convocations.

The Alumni Relations Office is also operating a booth at the Southern Baptist Convention this week, held at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. It is also hosting a special reception to launch the Louisville, Ky., alumni chapter.

Two more alumni chapters are launching in July — the Knoxville and Nashville, Tenn., chapters.

Closer to campus, the Alumni Relations Office is hosting it first “245 Initiative” event this summer. The 245 Initiative reaches the largest group of LU alumni, those residing in local 245 ZIP codes. The event is set for Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Liberty University campus. Alumni and their families will enjoy free use of campus facilities, as well as special events, games and vendors.
