Liberty students choose to serve on Spring Break

The Liberty University campus is a little less active than usual, as students are on Spring Break through March 21.

But that doesn’t mean LU students are less active. While many are home or on vacation enjoying time with family and friends, some have decided to use the break in service to others.

Liberty’s Center for Global Ministries, LIGHT ministries and other missions organizations are sponsoring trips this week across the U.S. and abroad.

One team is in Daytona, Fla., participating in boardwalk evangelism on the beach. They have been through two days of training and are spending the rest of the week sharing their faith. Another team is in Miami, Fla., working with Open Air Campaigners, an organization that specializes in evangelization techniques and methods. OAC will spend a few days training the students in evangelism methods and then the students will use what they learned in the Miami community.

International trips sponsored by Liberty University include Southeast Asia, North Africa, France, Czech Republic and Bosnia. They centered on university and student ministry, discipleship and relationship building.

Students and instructors from the Center for Worship at Liberty University are on a mission trip in Germany and have participated in a worship conference there.

In the U.S., two freshmen from Ohio have returned to their homes, but with a missions focus. Sarah Brock and Michael Wright are participating in a church planting project there and have attracted the attention of the local media. The two said they felt the call to spend their Spring Break spreading the Gospel after being influenced by the Center for Ministry Training’s recent Church Planting Emphasis Week at Liberty University.
