Longtime nursing professor dies

A tribute to Dr. Hila Spear was held during Liberty University’s nursing pinning ceremony on Dec. 17, where she received the Professor Emeritus honor.
The children of Hila Spear accept a plaque for the Professor Emeritus honor on their mother’s behalf during the Dec. 17 nursing pinning ceremony. The plaque was presented by Provost Dr. Ron Godwin and Vice Provost Dr. Ron Hawkins.

 

Liberty University mourns the loss of Dr. Hila Spear, who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 25. Spear taught in Liberty’s Nursing Department for 21 years. She started the graduate nursing program and was the director for 10 years. She also contributed to the development of the online nursing program.
