Students join We The Champions flag project

Flags blazoned with the words We The Champions have circled their way around Liberty University as students express their school pride on Instagram and declare to the rest of the world what it means to be a Champion for Christ.

The flag project kicked off last week with a post on the university’s official Instagram account and, since then, students have been passing the flags to one another, each posting a photo of themselves with the flag, tagged with the hashtag #WeTheChampions, along with a tag for a another student to receive the flag. Students’ posts have included Bible verses, personal testimonies, and explanations of what living for Christ looks like in their everyday lives.

The project is part of the university’s We The Champions initiative, an effort to unite the student body, faculty, and staff around Liberty’s longstanding mission of Training Champions for Christ. The initiative, mirroring the wording from the preamble to the U.S. Constitution, conveys how a Christian worldview can function in a collegiate setting. People are encouraged to go to the We The Champions website to share their stories.

Students are encouraged to take the flags with them on weekend excursions or on mission and service trips as they continue to pass it on through the campus community and grow more unified through the telling of their stories.
