State residents invited to campus July 24-29 for Virginia Private College Week

Prospective college students and families from Virginia are invited to tour the Liberty University campus and attend special information sessions on admissions, financial aid, and academic programs during Virginia Private College Week, July 24-29. Participants will have a chance to receive an application fee waiver to Liberty.

The program is sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia and is open to Virginia residents who are rising high school juniors and seniors or prospective transfer students.

Tours will be held at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., starting at the Hancock Welcome Center. Guests may also attend a special scholarships session.

“This is a great opportunity for students to discover what Liberty has to offer them right in their home state,” said Ed Parker, associate director of the Visitors Center. “The tours give them a chance to learn about Liberty’s broad degree offerings and to explore every area of college life, from housing and dining to our exciting student life activities.”

This is the ninth year Liberty has participated in Virginia Private College Week, which helps address some common myths about the cost of a private college education and emphasizes the quality of instruction at private institutions. Parker said the number of Virginia residents taking part in the program at Liberty has grown each year.

“Selecting a college is one of the biggest decisions a family will make, and this week is a wonderful opportunity for them to visit us in person and ask us all of their questions so we can help them navigate this process,” he said.

While registration is not required for Virginia Private College Week, those interested are asked to call (434) 582-2064 or email visitorscenter@liberty.edu for the program schedule.

To receive an application fee waiver, students must visit at least three participating institutions (and will receive waivers for those schools). Students visiting at least three institutions will also be eligible for a drawing for a $500 Amazon gift card.

Liberty also offers special events for visitors throughout the year, including My Liberty Monday and Friendly Friday, where prospective students and their families explore life at Liberty through exciting tours of its growing campus and meetings with faculty as well as admissions and financial aid personnel. Liberty also hosts College For A Weekend (CFAW) twice a semester, which provides high school juniors, seniors, and transfer students the opportunity to experience life as a college student. Upcoming dates are Sept. 28–Oct. 1 and Nov. 9-12. (High school sophomores are eligible to attend CFAW during the spring semester.)
