New web site features Liberty professors tackling tough questions

Dr. Will Honeycutt, assistant professor in the School of Religion, appears in the video, “Does God Love Gay People?”

Dr. Randall Price, professor of Jewish Studies in the School of Religion, films “Does Archaeology Support the Bible?”

A new website involving the work of 22 Liberty University professors recently launched in an effort to answer some of today’s most difficult social, ethical, cultural and moral questions from a biblical point of view.

Truelife.org is the product of alumnus Jesse Connors (’02) and features free video presentations on questions that range from “Does God Love Gay People?” and “Is Porn Wrong?” to “How Did We Get the New Testament?”

“I think it’s the largest effort across departments for an evangelistic outreach into our culture from Liberty, in its history,” Connors said.

In a professional documentary format, viewers all over the world can find answers to their tough questions from experts in the field. Then, they have a chance to get connected with a local church to further explore the Christian response to their problems and become part of the church family.

“TrueLife will open doors usually closed to evangelism in homes connected to the digital world,” Connors said. “Offering more than biblical answers, TrueLife.org points the spiritually sincere viewer to qualified evangelical churches within a 40-mile radius of the viewer’s zip code.”

Connors, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Media Management and Public Relations from Liberty and holds a Master of Divinity in Christian Apologetics and Biblical Languages from Southeastern Seminary, said the project took seven years to complete. He said he knew he wanted to involve Liberty professors from the beginning.

Alumnus Jesse Connors and his crew set up a makeshift studio at Liberty University.
Truelife founder Jesse Connors, Class of 2002, films a segment on “Do You Have True Life?”

“I knew that the professors were excellent and that there really wasn’t an effective platform to put them all on,” he said. “Liberty has such a diversity of specializations for bachelor’s [degrees], and I knew I’d be able to film so many different topics.”

Liberty’s professors fit the mission of his interdenominational, non-profit organization.

“Especially at Liberty, they [the professors] understand the power of broadcasting and they understand new media and how it’s important for Christians to see that. There is such a camaraderie with the project, it is really a testimony of the Holy Spirit,” Connors said.

All the professors (see list below) volunteered their time to the project. Fifteen students also helped with the filming through Liberty’s Christian Service office.
